The Alberta Medical Association (AMA) says it’s the first time it’s reached out to the public to gather input on how the system failed them, whether it’s because of lengthy wait times, a lack of family doctors or specialists or other problems. The AMA says it’s trying to measure, track and understand the care deficit and it plans to report on what it learns and advocate to government for improvements. Albertans can participate by taking an online survey. Doctor burnout in the province nearly doubled during the pandemic to 53% and recruitment has become an issue in rural and urban areas across the province.
