The B.C. government says 72 deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgeries will be performed in the province in the current fiscal year on Parkinson's patients who no longer respond to medication. That's double the number of procedures that took place three years ago. It's reported that the province set aside $1.7 million to expand DBS services as part of a five-point plan that includes a centralized wait list.
