The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) released a position paper to make the case that racism is a public health issue that contributes negatively to the physical and mental health of individuals subject to it. While pledging to examine its own policies to eliminate racism internally, the CPHA calls on agencies and organizations working in health and social services to take specific actions, such as adopting a formal statement that condemns racism. As well, it asks that governments and government agencies identify and remove racist approaches.
