Medavie Blue Cross notes productivity costs to employers from workplace mental health problems is around $56 billion annually, with 500,000 workers off work every week due to mental illness. It adds that organizations lose about 14% of their annual profits because of the associated costs from mental health concerns. Medavie Blue Cross further notes that:
- Fifty percent of workers will have a mental illness at some point in their lives by age 40, while 44% will have a mental health issue in the workplace; and
- Mental health contributes to 30% of all LTD claims.
