The $20-million facility at Canadore College is one of a kind in Canada. It’s focused on collaborative interprofessional education and the integration of Indigenous, Eastern and Western healing and wellness practices. The facility will also integrate seniors’ and community care with teaching, experiential skills training and applied research. The Village will offer student-run clinics for general health, Eastern medicine, dental hygiene, and safe mobility. Other labs will include cognitive stimulation and on-site early childhood education, as well as specialized Indigenous classrooms and ceremonial areas. Nursing and respiratory therapist students have been learning in The Village since September.
