Fifteen homes in the Victoria, B.C., area will be outfitted with technology designed to keep seniors with early-stage memory loss or dementia in their homes longer. The pilot project called Ease-e-Home uses Amazon Echo's digital assistant Alexa to set reminders, make calls, play music and games, answer questions, and control lighting and motion sensors by voice command. Data from the four-month trial will be used to identify challenges and barriers for seniors using the technology. The project is funded by the Centre for Aging + Brain Health Innovation.
