Physician assistants (PA) are permitted in Alberta, Manitoba, N.B., and Ontario. However, the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants says B.C. should recognize the profession to ease doctor shortages and wait times, as well as providing frontline care to remote and rural communities. The association is calling on the province's health minister to remove the bureaucratic hurdles that prohibit PAs from practicing in the province.
